NJ APTA BOARD MEMBER AND SHORT HILLS CLUB PRO DAVE BRODERICK, IS SPEARHEADING AN APTA NATIONAL “B” RANKING SYSTEM . “B” PLAYERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN RANKING POINTS FOR EVERY APTA “B” EVENT PLAYED GOING TOWARDS A SEASON ENDING NATIONAL “B” RANKING. A TEAM’S TOP TWO RESULTS WILL DETERMINE THEIR YEAR ENDING APTA “B” RANKING. RANKING POINTS EARNED WILL BE THE SAME AS FOR APTA NATIONAL RANKING OPEN EVENTS.
IN ADDITION, DAVE IS BRINGING BACK THE APTA MEN’S “B” NATIONALS and is introducing an all new AN APTA WOMEN’S “B” NATIONALS. The Men’s Winnable “B” Nationals will take place on Saturday, March 17th and Sunday, March 18th. Tournament Director Drew Broderick and The CANOE BROOK COUNTRY CLUB IN Summit,NJ have replaced their Winnable “B” Event with the new Winnable “B” National Championships and hope to include 128 teams. The first ever APTA Women’s “B” Nationals will be held on Thursday, March 15th and Friday, March 16th. Tournament Director Mike Gillespie and THE INDIAN TRAIL CLUB in Franklin Lakes are thrilled to help the APTA launch this exciting new APTA National Championship and will host a field of 64 teams. GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION IN APTA “B” EVENTS TO EARN “B” RANKING POINTS:
ALL PLAYERS MUST BE APTA MEMBERS AND ONLY PLAYERS RATED 5.0 AND BELOW ON THE APTA SELF RATING TOOL ARE ELIGIBLE. PLAYERS WHO HAVE WON TWO ROUNDS IN AN APTA NRT EVENT ARE INELIGIBLE REGARDLESS OF SELF RATING. PLAYERS WHO HAVE REPRESENTED THEIR REGION IN PRESIDENT’S CUP ARE ALSO INELIGIBLE.
ALL TEAMS IN OFFICIAL APTA “B” EVENTS WILL EARN RANKING POINTS TOWARDS A YEAR ENDING APTA “B” RANKING FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!
PLEASE GO TO APTA WEBSITE AND TAKE THE TWO MINUTE TEST TO GET YOUR APTA RATING. YOUR RATING WILL BE SENT TO YOU IMMEDIATELY. SEND THAT RATING TO THE APTA AND YOU WILL GET AN EMAIL BACK WITH GREAT TIPS FROM LEADING PROS FORM AROUND THE COUNTRY ON WHAT YOU PROBABLY NEED TO DO TO IMPROVE YOUR GAME AND YOUR RATING.
The APTA is currently forming a committee of pros from around the country who will review tournament results to be sure that all players have met the “B” criteria. If a player is deemed too good, that player will be notified that he or she can no longer compete on the “B” Tour.
All teams signing up for “B” Nationals in March must be approved by the “B” Ratings Committee.
The “B” Year End National Rankings will be based on a teams best two results. “B” teams playing only the “B” Nationals and no other “B” event will not qualify for a season ending National Ranking!
